Doha South Terminal Pump Station Piping Stress Analysis, Doha, Qatar
Integrated Engineers team has been involved as sub-consultant and designer in Pump station rehabilitation project
The City of Doha (City) has undertaken the IDRIS Program to upgrade and expand the sewerage infrastructure system. The planned project consists of tunneled sewers to replace the shallow sewers to meet the long-term needs of the growing areas. An important component of the overall system is the Doha South (DS) Terminal Pump Station (TPS). The TPS is located in Al Rayyan Municipality, in the southern part of Doha. The upstream component of the system is the Screen Shaft that divides the total flow into two equal streams and there is coarse screening in individually covered channels to remove large floating and entrained debris that could clog or damage downstream systems. The scope of this report is to evaluate the piping stresses and flexibility analysis of the sewage treatment piping and odor control ducts in Doha south station sewage treatment project. The analysis is made to provide check for flexibility and stresses of the system and to define piping loads required for structural work and for further pipe supports design and analysis. Integrated Engineers was the project coordinator and the responsible for performing the calculations through its sub-consultant team.
The Scope of the work was as follows:
- Piping stress analysis (DN200-DN500-DN600- DN1000-DN1400-DN1600).
- Check stresses in accordance with applicable code.
- Sustained Stress Check
Occasional Stress Check (Seismic). - Thermal Stress Range Check.
- Define/verify support location and types of supports.
- Define/verify expansion joints Check/define design loads for support design.
- Check displacements of the system
- Compute loads on the equipment connection for further verification
